Grand Seiko 62GS Spring Drive Collection 55th Anniversary Limited Edition
A watch created to revive the historic 1967 model with a twist. Celebrating 55 years of expert mechanical Japanese watch making.
The Spring Drive is a unique concept founded by Grand Seiko watch company themselves. It embodies supreme high quality mechanical engineering with a contemporary style, designed for pedigree Grand Seiko watches only. Fanatics of the brands exquisite watch developments over the years will appreciate how special the Spring Drive is in terms of complications that other leading watch brands are currently offering. Powered from a mainspring, the Spring Drive is a traditional mechanical watch where a new type of regulator replaces the escapement. It is the only movement in the world powered in this way and controlled by a precise signal from an electronic oscillator. Featuring Grand Seiko’s most advanced mechanical components, the 9R65 movement powering the new 62GS Spring Drive offers 72 hours of power reserve, beats at an impressive 28000 bph and consists of 30 jewels, all encased within a high intensity titanium structure. The Grand Seiko timepiece promises ultimate reliability with an accuracy measure of plus or minus 15 seconds per month thanks to its unique and highly reliable electromagnetically controlled mainspring unwinding regulation. With a water resistance of 10 bar and a magnetic resistance of 4800 A/m, the watch offers unconditional power and impeccable service regardless of external factors. A screw down crown and see through exhibition glass leads to a dual curved sapphire crystal glass window at the front of the watch with anti reflective and scratch resistant treatment. Emphasizing a collection of beautiful design features to the face such as the dauphine style central hour and minute hands, a sweeping needle thin second hand with blue hue and the contrasting silvered tones of Grand Seiko’s simplistic dial background, a subtle date window display rests at the 3 o clock location. Finished on a high intensity titanium bracelet with three fold clasp and push button release, the new Grand Seiko 62GS Spring Drive is an interpretation of the brands prestigious and highly successful status.

Grand Seiko SBGA125 History :
Prior to 1960, to challenge the status of Swiss watches and change the perception of Japanese watches, Daini Seikosha and Suwa began the discussion of a product line that can match the quality of Swiss watches under the suggestion of the parent company. At the time, Suwa Seikosha Co. was in charge of manufacturing men’s watches, so it was decided that Suwa would be producing the first Grand Seiko (GS).
The first Grand Seiko was released in 1960, it was based on Seiko’s previous high-end watch, CROWN. This Grand Seiko has a 25-jewel, manual-winding, 3180 caliber, and only 36,000 units were produced. This was also the first chronometer-grade watch manufactured in Japan, and it was based on Seiko’s own chronometer standard.
The design language of the Grand Seiko was set in 1967, with the creation of Grand Seiko 44GS. The 44GS set the ground for all future Grand Seiko with nine elements. These elements help improve the legibility of the watch under different situations, and create a sharp, crisp visual impression:
- Double width index at 12 o’clock
- Multi-faceted rectangular markers
- Highly polished bezel
- Highly polished planes and two-dimensional surface
- Half recessed crown
- Flat dial
- Multi-faceted hour and minute hands
- Curved side line
- Reverse slanted bezel wall and case side
- Dress style with simple but beautiful design
- Zaratsu polishing
