KING SEIKO SPB391 Features
This watch is inspired by the heritage of Tokyo’s past – the retro looks and pop culture during the heyday of the 1960s when the original King Seiko was released.
King Seiko timepieces contributed to Seiko Watch Corporation’s developments in world-leading technical precision after their first launch in 1961. The ‘King Seiko’ originated when multiple Seiko teams of experts created different watches to encourage innovation – one of the Japanese watch brand’s constant aims.
To give its vintage looks, the dial features vertical hairline finishing and metallic texture with a retro-luxe halo effect coloring counterbalanced by its recognizable classic KSK sharp case design. Lumibrite on the hands and indices give strong legibility. Powered by the in-house 6R55 caliber, it has a three-day power reserve.
The special feature of this model is its easily interchangeable bracelet for a personalized look – the bracelet can easily be removed by squeezing the two levers at the back of the bracelet end-piece.

Inspired by the culture of the 1960s and 1970s, when King Seiko was in its original heyday, the dial comes in three colors: charcoal black, indigo blue, and olive green. Vertical hairline finishing on the dial expresses a vintage look.

The bracelet, combines a sense of luxury, ease of use, and a good fit on the wrist. Thanks to a newly developed double lever system for easily changing the metal bracelet, the watch can be worn in a variety of situations by combining it with a wide range of 10 exclusive leather straps (sold separately).

The 1960’s was a decade of unprecedented advances for Seiko, both in terms of technical development and design creativity. Alongside Grand Seiko, one other series demonstrated the company’s ability to create beautifully designed and finished mechanical watches with high accuracy. It was called King Seiko. In addition to its precision, it offered a powerful yet graceful design that symbolized the high quality of its construction. Today, after more than half a century, the King Seiko collection is back with timepieces that showcase the lasting quality of Seiko’s mechanical watchmaking.

The five new watches share a distinctively sharp and angular design that is inspired by the 1965 King Seiko KSK, which was the second series to be created and the one that defined the character of King Seiko. The combination of a flat dial with faceted indexes and broad, razor-edged hands gives the watch a refined and striking presence.
History of Seiko
The company was founded in 1881, when Kintarō Hattori opened a watch and jewerly shop called “K. Hattori” (服部時計店 Hattori Tokeiten) in the Ginza area of Tokyo, Japan. Eleven years later, in 1892, he began to produce clocks under the name Seikosha, meaning roughly “House of Exquisite Workmanship”.
The first watches produced under the Seiko brand appeared in 1924. In 1969, Seiko introduced the Astron, the world’s first production quartz watch, it cost the same as a medium-sized car. Seiko later went on to introduce the first quartz chronograph.
